Debut of the First Georgian-Chinese Theatrical Collaboration in Shanghai

On September 1, 2024, the Shanghai Grand Theater hosted the premiere of a new interpretation of William Shakespeare’s “Hamlet,” which marked the debut of the first-ever Georgian-Chinese theatrical collaboration. The play was directed by Gocha Kapanadze, with stage design by Lomguli Murusidze.

This production was made possible by the dedication and support of actors Teimuraz Dzotsenidze and Mikheil Ioseliani. The project featured actors from both Georgia and China, showcasing the unique cultural cooperation in this field.

The Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Georgia, Mr. Paata Kalandadze attended the premiere and wished the creative team continued success following the performance.  The Ambassador emphasized that this successful project has paved the way for significant cooperation, aiming to deepen collaboration in the field of theatrical arts between Georgia and China.

The premiere was attended by leading specialists in theatrical arts and representatives of cultural circles.
