Georgian Ambassador Visits Zhaoqing
On August 22–24, 2025, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Georgia to the People’s Republic of China, Paata Kalandadze, visited Zhaoqing, Guangdong Province, at the invitation of the local government. During his stay, he met with Secretary of CPC Zhaoqing Municipal Committee and Director of Zhaoqing Municipal People’s Congress, Zhang Aijun.
The two sides discussed the agenda of Georgia–China bilateral relations. It was noted that the establishment of a sister-city relationship between Zhaoqing and Kobuleti is under active consideration.
Zhaoqing is the birthplace of the renowned tea specialist Lao Jin Jao, whose name is associated with the introduction of tea culture to Georgia and the development of the industry. It was emphasized that Lao Jin Jao’s biography is an example of friendship between the Georgian and Chinese peoples and deserves greater recognition. For this purpose, this year the Lao Jin Jao House Museum will be opened in Chakvi, Kobuleti Municipality.
