Meeting of the Ambassador of Georgia held a at the General Administration of Customs of China (GACC)

On 28 January 2026, Ambassador Paata Kalandadze held a working meeting with Mr. Yu Xiantao, Deputy Director-General of the International Department of the General Administration of Customs of the People's Republic of China (GACC).

During the meeting, the parties discussed the dynamics of Georgia-China trade relations. The Ambassador placed particular emphasis on the practical implementation of the updated Free Trade Agreement (FTA) signed in November 2025, which provides a solid foundation for expanding access of Georgian products to China’s vast market and for minimizing trade barriers.

Attention was also given to the digital transformation of customs procedures and to increasing the efficiency of cargo turnover between the two countries. The sides discussed mechanisms aimed at further simplifying the certification of Georgian export goods and the customs clearance process.

The meeting aimed to strengthen economic ties within the framework of the strategic partnership between the two countries and to optimize customs administration processes. At the conclusion of the meeting, the parties agreed to maintain close cooperation.
