Independence Day of Georgia Reception

On 29 May 2026, the Embassy of Georgia to the People's Republic of China hosted a reception dedicated to Georgia’s Independence Day at The St. Regis Beijing in Beijing.
 
The audience was addressed by H.E. Mr. Paata Kalandadze, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Georgia to the People’s Republic of China, and Mr. Cheng Yikun, Director-General of the Department of Eurasian Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China. The event was attended by Mr. Giorgi Mirtskhulava, Deputy Minister of Culture of Georgia.
 
The reception brought together representatives of Chinese government institutions, the diplomatic corps, international organizations, business and academic circles, as well as representatives of the culture and tourism sectors and members of the Georgian diaspora.
 
In his remarks, Ambassador Paata Kalandadze spoke about the historical significance of Georgia’s Independence Day and highlighted the country’s achievements in development, as well as the growing momentum of Georgia-China cooperation. Mr. Cheng Yikun congratulated Georgia on its Independence Day and emphasized the importance of further deepening cooperation between Georgia and China across various fields.
 
As part of the cultural program, the Georgian State Academic Folk Ensemble “Rustavi” performed traditional Georgian songs and dances. The event also featured video presentations showcasing Georgia’s tourism potential and rich cultural heritage.
