Visit of the First Vice Prime Minister of Georgia to the People's Republic of China
On September 11-13, 2024, the First Vice Prime Minister of Georgia, Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, H.E. Mr. Levan Davitashvili was in working visit in Beijing, whilst he held a meeting with the Vice Prime Minister of China, H.E. Mr. Ding Xuexiang.
Within the framework of visit, he also took part in the opening ceremony of the international exhibition “CIFTIS”, where he addressed the attendees. In addition, bilateral meetings were held with President of the People's Bank of China, Mr. Pan Gongsheng and Deputy Chairman of the National Development and Reform Commission of the People's Republic of China, Mr. Zhao Chenxin.
It should be emphasized that during the visit, the parties signed a "Memorandum of Understanding between the Government of Georgia and the Government of China on the development of transport corridors for China-Europe railway express, the Trans-Caspian International Route (Middle Corridor)".
During the visit the First Vice Prime Minister of Georgia, the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, H.E. Mr. Levan Davitashvili held meetings with the heads of Chinese State and private companies. The conversation touched on cooperation in air transportation, tourism, energy, infrastructure and other important fields.
According to H.E. Mr. Paata Kalandadze, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Georgia, above-mentioned visit can be considered as an important step forward in the direction of Georgia-China economic cooperation.
