One Hundredth Anniversary of the Forbidden City Museum

On June 10, 2025, the Georgian ambassador Paata Kalandadze attended an event dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the announcement of the Forbidden City in Beijing as a museum. The event was titled "Fifth Diplomats’ Day at the Palace Museum."

As part of this tour, ambassadors accredited in Beijing and other members of the diplomatic corps were invited. They viewed an exhibition that was specially opened for this occasion. Following that, a forum titled "Ambassadors Dialogue: “Exchange and Mutual Learning of Civilizations in Forbidden City’s Heritage" was held.

Speakers at the forum included the Director of the Palace Museum, Mr. Wang Xu dong; the deputy director of China’s main “Xinhua News Agency”, Ms. Xi Yanchun; and other scholars of the museum.

The Forbidden City was inscribed on UNESCO’s World Heritage List in 1987 as the imperial palace of the Ming and Qing dynasties, used by emperors from 1420 to 1924.
