Visit of the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia to China

On April 22-25, 2026, Mariam Kvrivishvili, the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, conducted a working visit to Beijing. During the visit, she held high-level meetings with representatives of Chinese government agencies and the large-scale business sector.

Within the framework of the visit, a meeting was held with the Minister of Commerce of China, Wang Wentao, during which a protocol was signed regarding amendments to the Free Trade Agreement between the two countries. This document adapts the existing agreement to the modern trading environment and creates additional opportunities in the fields of investment and e-commerce.

As a part of the visit, it was also decided to establish a Georgia-China investment dialogue mechanism, which will facilitate the attraction of Chinese capital into strategic infrastructure and energy projects.

Special attention was paid to the tourism and aviation sectors. Based on an agreement with China Eastern Airlines, direct flights between Shanghai and Tbilisi will commence on July 15.
